Ah yes, the rules, lovely. Well don't complain; every site has them and every site, including this one, insist that they be followed. Punishments for breaking rules will vary depending on the situation and the severity of the rule-break, but they can range from a mild warning to being permanently banned. Obviously I can't force you to read them, but bear in mind that ignorance is no excuse and you will be punished for a rule-break even if you didn't know you were doing anything wrong.

General rules:
- While references to sex, drugs and violence are allowed, you mustn't get to graphic about it; I don't want to put-off any potential members and, in all honesty, I'm not too comfortable with it myself. We're all grown-up here, we know how much is too much, just keep it to a minimum.
- Same goes for swearing; it's okay in moderation, but don't overdo it.
- I will not tolerate any sort of prejudiced behavior, including racism, sexism or ageism. Just be nice to each other.
- Respect the staff; if they tell you to do something it's for a reason, so you're best off just doing it. If you feel you are being treated unfairly by a mod, message me and I will sort it out.
- Don't argue. If you've got a problem with someone take it to PMs and try to sort it out nicely. If you find that you just can't come to an agreement, come to me or another staff member, and we will try to help.
- Please try to stay active. By joining the site you are making a commitment to be on for at least a reasonable amount of time each week. If, for whatever reason, you have to be away for a little while, please tell us in the Away board.
- Please, to the best of your abilities, use good grammar. I don't mind if you occasionally put the odd comma in the wrong place; everyone has trouble sometimes, but do your best. This means no chatspeak at any time.
Character rules:
- No character may be played until its application has been reviewed and accepted by a staff member. This will take at most twenty-four hours, usually less.
- No-one in real life is perfect, and no one in this game will be perfect either. No Mary-Sues or Gary-Stues, please.
- On a similar note, no character is pure evil unless they're a psychopath. While you're welcome to play a psychopath if you want, you must deal with all the difficulties that would put them in, and that they can't ever get better.
- Conditions such as blindness, deafness and other physical disabilities are allowed within reason. If we get a disproportionate number of characters with a certain condition it will be banned. Same goes for rare genetic conditions such as albinism.
- Human appearances must be naturally possible, meaning no purple hair and orange eyes.
- Pets are allowed, but the character must have had a plausible way of acquiring it and a realistic use for it. There's no way that, in real life, a person would have a perfectly tame leopard following them around everywhere they went.
IC posting rules:
- All IC posts should be at least 200 words along. If, once in a blue moon, you are unable to make this I won't quibble, but repeatedly ignoring this rule will not be tolerated.
- All RPing should be done in third person ('he/she' rather than 'I') and past tense ('was' rather than 'is').
- Be detailed. You can include information such as the character's surroundings, their thoughts and feelings and their reactions to certain stimulus.
- In-character actions have in-character repercussions; if your character falls and breaks his leg in one thread, he can't be running around, fighting-fit, in the next.
- This site is one-account-per-player; put all of your characters on one account.
- A rider and his dragon more or less count as one character, and you can RP them together in one post if you wish. If you've ever played on a DRoP (Dragon Riders of Pern) RPG you'll know what I mean.
- If you have a high-ranking character you should be online at least every three days. Repeated failure to do this with no reasonable explanation may eventually result in you losing that character.
- It's common courtesy not to join a thread marked 'private' that wasn't intended for you, so, you know, don't do it. You'll probably just be ignored if you try to anyway.
